The Institute for Research, Advocacy and Training was founded in 2012 by Professor Irene Korkoi Odotei. A woman with considerable experience in academia, public boards and associations, community mobilization work, cultural engagement and Bible Advocacy from the local through to national to international level

All these experiences led to the formation of Women in Leadership and Development (WILAD), Council for Women Traditional Leaders (CWTL), Cultural Education and Technology Network (CETNET) and Youth Ambassadors for Peace and Service (YAPS). INSRAT also works in association with La Mansaamokpe (La Town Development), International Institute of Advanced Studies (IIAS). Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), and History Teachers association of Ghana (HISTAG).
